കൊച്ചി: സ്ത്രീ പോരാട്ടങ്ങളുടെ നാഴികക്കല്ലും വഴിത്തിരിവുമാണ് ഹേമ കമ്മീഷന് ശുപാര്‍ശയെന്ന് വിമണ്‍ ഇന്‍ സിനിമ കലക്ടീവ്. ഡബ്ലു.സി.സി യുടെ ഫേസ്ബുക്ക് പേജിലൂടെയാണ് പ്രതികരണം.
റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് നടപ്പാക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് സിനിമ മേഖലയില്‍ ചുവടുറപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ഉള്‍ക്കരുത്തും അര്‍ഹമായ ഇടവും ലഭിക്കുമെന്നും ലിംഗ സമത്വം എന്ന സ്വപ്നത്തിലേക്ക് സമൂഹം കൂടുതല്‍ അടുക്കുമെന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതായും ശബ്ദമില്ലാത്തവരുടെ ശബ്ദമാണ് ഈ വിജയമെന്നും ഡബ്ലൂ.സി.സി പറഞ്ഞു.
‘നാളിതുവരെയും നിയമാതീതമായ പ്രത്യേക അധികാര മേഖല പോലെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു പോരുന്ന മലയാള സിനിമയെ നിയമ വിധേയമാക്കാന്‍ കമ്മീഷന് ശുപാര്‍ശകളിന്മേല്‍ ഇനി സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ സജീവമായ ഇടപെടലാണ് വേണ്ടത്.പോസ്റ്റില്‍ പറയുന്നു.

സിനിമ മേഖലയിലെ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ തുറന്നു കാട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് ജസ്റ്റിസ് ഹേമ കമ്മീഷന് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. സംസ്ഥാന സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നിയോഗിച്ച കമ്മീഷനാണ് പ്രശ്നങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് പഠിച്ച് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിക്ക് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചത്.

മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ അവ്യവസ്ഥകൾ പരിഹരിക്കാൻ ശക്തമായ നിയമ നിര്‍മ്മാണം തന്നെ വേണമെന്നാണ് ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാന ശുപാര്‍ശ. ഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹപ്രവർത്തക തൊഴിലിടത്തിൽ ആക്രമിക്കപ്പെട്ടതിനെ തുടർന്ന് ഡബ്ല്യു.സി.സി.യുടെ രൂപീകരണത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ച ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാന ആവശ്യത്തിന് കിട്ടിയ ഒരംഗീകാരമാണ്. ഇന്ത്യൻ സിനിമയിൽ ആദ്യമാണ് ഇത്തരമൊരു പഠനകമ്മീഷൻ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്. ചരിത്രമാണിത്. സ്ത്രീ പോരാട്ടങ്ങളുടെ നാഴികക്കല്ലും വഴിത്തിരിവുമാണ്.

A long wait has come to a worthwhile end.
The Hema Commission’s report with recommendations to look into gender discrimination in the Malayalam film industry has been submitted to the Government of Kerala.
In response to Women in Cinema Collective’s request, the Government had constituted the Commission in July 2017. The panel, chaired by Justice Hema, consisted of EX M.P and National Award winning actress Sharada, and Retd IAS official K.B.Valsala Kumari. After two and a half years of collecting evidence and testimonials, the Commission has now submitted its report to the Chief Minister. The most important recommendation in the report is said to be that a strong legislative infrastructure must be put in place to address the gender related problems in Malayalam Film Industry.
The formation of WCC was an organic reaction to the horrific experience our colleague had to go through in February 2017. The constitution of the Commission was a direct response to our requests to the Government and was a very important acknowledgment of the issues we face in our workspace. This is the first time that a commission of study has been appointed for such purpose in the Indian film industry and is truly a milestone in the history of Indian Cinema workspace .
We hope the Government will pro-actively act on the basis of the recommendations of the Commission leading the way to form a strong legal framework for the film industry, which has so far been functioning as an unorganised sector without proper compliance to the gender justice and labour laws of the land.
Though the details of the report are yet to be released, it has been reported in media that it documents the many human rights violations within the film industry. We, the community of women in Kerala, especially the women of Malayalam cinema sincerely commend and thank the Government of Kerala and the Hema Commission for this step towards the betterment of our workspace.
We hope that the implementation of the recommendation of this report will provide women with more opportunities, the courage to step into the field as well as bring our society closer to the dream of gender equality. This victory is the voice of the voiceless. We are hold it very close to our heart as an incredible New Year gift!
