മുന്‍ ഇറ്റാലിയന്‍ ഫുട്‌ബോള്‍ താരം ജിയാന്‍ലൂക്ക വിയാലി അന്തരിച്ചു. 58 വയസായിരുന്നു. ഇറ്റലിയുടെയും ചെല്‍സിയുടെയും സ്ട്രൈക്കറായിരുന്ന ജിയാന്‍ലൂക്ക വിയാലി പാന്‍ക്രിയാറ്റിക് ക്യാന്‍സര്‍ ബാധിതനായിരുന്നു.
2017ലാണ് വിയാലിക്ക് പാന്‍ക്രിയാറ്റിക് ക്യാന്‍സര്‍ സ്ഥിരീകകരിക്കുന്നത്. തുടര്‍ന്ന് നീണ്ടകാലത്തെ ചികിത്സക്ക് ശേഷം 2020 ഏപ്രിലില്‍ രോഗം ഭേദമായതായി അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. പിന്നാലെ 2021ല്‍ വീണ്ടും രോഗം മൂര്‍ച്ഛിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

ഇറ്റലിക്കായി 59 അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ വിയാലി കളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 1986ലെയും 1990ലെയും ലോകകപ്പ് ടീമുകളില്‍ ഇടംനേടിയ താരം ഇറ്റലിക്ക് വേണ്ടി കരിയറലാകെ 16 ഗോളുകള്‍ നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
1996ല്‍ ചെല്‍സിയില്‍ ചേരുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് യുവന്റസിനൊപ്പം ചേര്‍ന്ന താരം ചാമ്പ്യന്‍സ് ലീഗ് നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. പിന്നീട് 1998ല്‍ പ്ലെയര്‍-മാനേജര്‍ റോളിലാണ് വിയാലി ചെല്‍സിയില്‍ കളിച്ചത്.
