ഏഷ്യന്‍ ഗെയിംസ് പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ ലോങ് ജമ്പില്‍ വെള്ളി നേടി മലയാളി താരം മുരളി ശ്രീശങ്കര്‍. 8.19 മീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരം ചാടി ശ്രീശങ്കര്‍ വെള്ളിമെഡല്‍ നേടി രാജ്യത്തിന് അഭിമാനനേട്ടം സമ്മാനിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ 1500 മീറ്റര്‍ ഓട്ടത്തില്‍ ജിന്‍സണ്‍ ജോണ്‍സണ്‍ വെങ്കലമെഡലും സ്വന്തമാക്കി.
നാലാം ശ്രമത്തിലാണ് ശ്രീശങ്കര്‍ തന്റെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ദൂരമായ 8.19 മീറ്റര്‍ ചാടിയത്. 1978ന് ശേഷം ആദ്യമായാണ് ഏഷ്യന്‍ ഗെയിംസ് ലോങ് ജമ്പില്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ താരം വെള്ളി നേടുന്നത്.

3000 മീറ്റര്‍ സ്റ്റീപിള്‍ ചേസില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ അവിനാശ് സാബ്ലെയും ഷോട്ട്പുട്ടില്‍ തേജീന്തര്‍ പാല്‍ സിങ്ങും സ്വര്‍ണം നേടിയിരുന്നു. അത്‌ലെറ്റിക്‌സ് ഇനങ്ങളില്‍ നിരവധി മെഡലുകളാണ് ഇന്ന് ഇന്ത്യ സ്വന്തമാക്കിയത്.

1500 മീറ്റര്‍ ഓട്ടത്തില്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ താരങ്ങള്‍ ആകെ മൂന്ന് മെഡലുകളാണ് സ്വന്തമാക്കിയത്. പുരുഷ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ വെള്ളിയും വെങ്കലവും ഇന്ത്യ സ്വന്തമാക്കി. ഏഷ്യന്‍ ഗെയിംസില്‍ ഇതോടെ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ മെഡല്‍ നേട്ടം 50 ആയി.
