അടുത്ത മാസം ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ഏകദിന ലോകകപ്പിനുള്ള അവസാന 15 അംഗ സ്‌ക്വാഡിനെ ഇന്ത്യ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരുന്നു. പരിക്കേറ്റ് പുറത്തായ അക്‌സര്‍ പട്ടേലിന് പകരം വെറ്ററന്‍ സ്പിന്നര്‍ ആര്‍. അശ്വിന് വന്നതാണ് ടീമിലെ ആകെയുള്ള മാറ്റം.
മൂന്ന് സ്പിന്നര്‍മാരെ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയായിരുന്നു ഇന്ത്യ ആദ്യ പതിനഞ്ച് തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്. കുല്‍ദീപ് യാദവ്, രവീന്ദ്ര ജഡേജ, അക്‌സര്‍ പട്ടേല്‍ എന്നിവരായിരുന്നു ആ സ്പിന്നര്‍മാര്‍. എന്നാല്‍ അക്‌സറിന് പരിക്കേറ്റതതോടെ അശ്വിന് നറുക്ക് വീഴുകയായിരുന്നു.
ഓസ്‌ട്രേലിയക്കെതിരെയുള്ള മൂന്ന് മത്സരങ്ങളടങ്ങിയ പരമ്പരയില്‍ അശ്വിന് ആദ്യ രണ്ട് മത്സരങ്ങളില്‍ കളത്തില്‍ ഇറങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ആദ്യ മത്സരത്തില്‍ ഒരു വിക്കറ്റും രണ്ടാം മത്സരത്തില്‍ മൂന്ന് വിക്കറ്റും സ്വന്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു.
ഏഷ്യാ കപ്പ് സൂപ്പര്‍ ഫോറിലെ അവസാന മത്സരത്തിലായിരുന്നു മികച്ച ഫോമിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന അകസര്‍ പട്ടേലിന് പരിക്കേറ്റത്. ശ്രീലങ്കക്കെതിരെയുള്ള ഏഷ്യാ കപ്പ് ഫൈനലും ഓസ്‌ട്രേലിയക്കെതിരെയുള്ള ഏകദിന പരമ്പരയും താരത്തിന് കളിക്കാന്‍ സാധിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.
അശ്വിനെ ടീമില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയതില്‍ ഒരുപാട് ആരാധകര്‍ വിമര്‍ശനവുമായി രംഗത്തെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. എല്ലാ ടീമുകളും മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങുമ്പോള്‍ ഇന്ത്യ മാത്രം പുറകിലോട്ടാണെന്നാണ് ആരാധകര്‍ വാദിക്കുന്നത്.
അശ്വിന് ടീമിന്റെ ബാലന്‍സ് കളയുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കാരണം ലോകകപ്പില്‍ ഒരുപാട് മുന്നോട്ട് പോകില്ലെന്നും കമന്റ് ചെയ്യുന്നവരുണ്ട്. യുസ്വേന്ദ്ര ചഹലിന് എന്തിന് തഴഞ്ഞുവെന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്ന ആരധകരെയും കാണാം.
എന്നാല്‍ താരം ചാമ്പ്യന്‍ ക്രിക്കറ്ററാണെന്നും ലോകകപ്പില്‍ ഒരു അസറ്റാകുമെന്നും പറയുന്നവരെയും കാണാം.

I hope Ash completely puts a slap on my perception but I’m still not convinced of him bowling in nov dec with dew around..
With bat he’s handy no doubt but axar was different lower down..

I really don’t like this Ashwin selection looking at it from a merit POV.
But he can be an asset. Champion cricketers can always produce moments. And these slow tracks will only help him.

Ravichandran Ashwin replaces Axar Patel. Clearly the priority has shifted in the management. We wanted to bat deep but then went with Ashwin. If we’re looking at the better bowler then why not Yuzvendra Chahal?
