K. Surendran, BJP”s state secretary for Kerala, spreads fake news as he claims that a man who died in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala was actually killed during the rampage protesting the Supreme Court order permitting entry of all women into Shabarimala. Mr. Surendran, in his facebook post, remarked that Pinarayi Vijayan was responsible for the man”s death. He goes on to say that the man,who went by the name “Sivadas” is a martyr of the BJP party and will be remembered till the end of time.
Surendran, in his post, accuses the Chief Minister of plotting to kill more “Ayyappa bhakts” in the coming days. “More Ayyappa believers will be murdered by Vijayan and his police goons when the temple reopens in the 5th of November” he says. He added that even if thousands are killed in the struggle for Swami Ayyappa, the fight will go on. The RSS supporters do seem to be promoting Surendran”s words as seen in the comments section of the facebook post. Right leaning media establishments in Kerala have begun to endorse this as authentic information.
Surendran”s claims were soon proved to be wrong, as chief of police for Pathanamthitta, T Narayanan IPS, came out with an official statement. He said that Sivadasan”s death took place only after the 18th of October, which proves that he could not have been killed in the commotion that happened in the Shabarimala premises on the 16th and 17th. “The body of the man was found in a bush, in Laha Panchayat of Pathanamthitta. He was reported to be missing on the 18th of October. The police action against the protestors took place on the 16th and 17th.”
He further added that “Sivadasan”s body was found near to the Pathanamthitta Nilakkal Road. The struggle between the protestors and the police was at the Pamba Nilakkal road, which is over 16 kilometers away from where Sivadasan was found. Also, the man”s motorcycle was found near to the body. If he ran from the where the protest took place, how was the motorcycle present there? This is how they are spreading lies. They spread lies to give rise to communal violence”.
The family of Sivadasan had filed a complaint with the police. In the complaint, they say that Sivadasan had phoned them on the 19th of October.
Along with Surendran, BJP”s state president for Kerala, Mr. PS Shreedharan Pillai also posted the same thing on facebook. He accused the Kerala police of committing grave atrocities against the “Ayyappa Bhakts” which also lead to Sivadasan”s death. Shreedharan Pillai has called for a harthal in Pathanamthitta district in the 2nd of November even as the man”s death was proved to be incidental.
