Kozhikode: Kerala is facing one of its worst natural calamities ever. Every district is affected and the transportation and communication facilities are damaged in most parts of the state. All the educational institutions are shut down as the condition is really critical. All types of exams and official interviews are either cancelled or postponed due to the current scenario. But the latest announcement by Indian Council of Agricultural Research with regard to its Entrance exam which they are planning to conduct on 18th and 19th August disappoints many.
Apprehensions are rising as I.C.A.R is adamant on conducting the entrance exam for UG, PG, and PhD admissions as announced earlier. The council postponed the exams to August as they found discrepancies in the entrance exams conducted on 22nd and 23rd June.

Many including the universities in the state and student organizations requested the Council to consider the critical situation in Kerala and postpone the exams. All India Agricultural students Association conducted a meeting with Agricultural Council authorities. But all efforts are found to be in vain as the Council is not ready to postpone the exams.
The transportation facilities are at a poor condition in Kerala and it is impossible for the students to reach the centers. Train and bus services are totally shut down in many districts.
Due to the intervention from Madras High Court I.C.A.R conducted a separate exam for the victims of Chennai flood in 2015. Kerala expects the same response from Council for the students in Kerala.

The entrance exam is a gateway for many vocational courses such as agricultural, fisheries and veterinary. The number of aspirants for this exam is really high in Kerala. Many consider it to be the second best option after NEET. So most of the students who couldn”t pass through the medical entrance usually appear for the exam.
The recent action by the I.C.A.R, a centre institution raises the protest as there are already huge disappointments against the centre on its negligence towards the crisis in Kerala.
